LEH Foshan
We developed the brief and design for this new international school for 875 pupils working in close consultation with LEH UK, the Hong Kong based school operator, the Foshan implementation authority and the appointed Local Design Institute.
The concept captures the essence of LEH UK and creates an adaptable, highly sustainable, secure, urban campus, providing a unique experience for students, staff and visitors
Key challenges included site development ratios, flood risk, Chinese regulations (including the 400m running track requirement) and the building heights proposed for surrounding plots.
Key features include a secure, living green wall to the development perimeter, basement parking, climate responsive external envelopes, a green heart to the campus, academic facilities arranged around full height atria, boarding accommodation for pupils, apartments for teaching staff, a 300 seat theatre, 4-court sports hall and 25m swimming pool.
