Ian  Pratt

Ian leads the practice’s education design team.  He joined Scott Brownrigg in 2007 and became a Director in 2014.  Working closely with the Strategic Board, his operational responsibilities include inter-studio education design leadership, management, growth and development of the practice’s science, health and education specialisms in the UK and internationally.

Ian is a UK registered Chartered Architect and has over 17 years of experience in the masterplanning, conceptual design and delivery of education projects.  His expertise encompasses projects for learners of all ages and a wide range of educational models.  His experience spans major government development initiatives including the Priority Schools Building Programme, Building Schools for the Future, the LSC Capital Project Programme, various Public Private Partnership models along with projects for independent schools in the UK and internationally.

In 2014, Ian was seconded to Scott Brownrigg’s Singapore Studio as Director responsible for leadership and development of the practice’s South East Asia team.  Now based in London, Ian works closely with colleagues in all studios to promote educational design excellence.

In addition to designing educational facilities, Ian has experience of projects in a variety of other sectors including residential and retail and has a proven ability to lead, manage and deliver projects of all sizes on both a conceptual and technical level.

Ian is a strategic thinker, an excellent communicator and presenter.  He greatly enjoys the people aspects of leading and managing teams and the challenges of assimilating multiple stakeholder requirements through consultation and engagement.

Ian is passionate about design and believes in developing inspiring, innovative and highly sustainable design solutions that promote health and well-being.  His approach to projects is people focused, founded on the principles of partnering and collaboration and he is constantly in search of ways of improving design, the creative process and exceeding client expectations.

Ian's recent projects include the award-winning, BREEAM Excellent £33 million Spark for Solent University, the Student Gateway for Lady Eleanor Holles, a major FE College development in London and a new British International School in China.
