International design practice, Scott Brownrigg is hosting the fifth Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust (SLCT) Bursary Scholar Exhibition from the 2 to 20 March 2015 at its Endell Street, London office.

‘Connecting People’ uses the reoccurring exhibition theme of ‘People & Places’ and will display a wide variety of work produced entirely by SLCT bursary scholars, past and present as well as recent newly-awarded scholars.

The exhibited work will use mixed media including hand drawn artwork and digital approaches to showcase the individual journey each bursary scholar has taken within architecture, construction or design, and the academic and employment successes the scholars have achieved both within the UK and worldwide.

Doreen Lawrence, Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon, OBE, Founder of The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust said:
"The Trust is proud and privileged to work alongside our architect partner, Scott Brownrigg, to once again stage a brilliant exhibition which will highlight the individual stories of many scholars that have been involved with the Trust.  As a charity, the Trust relies on the commitment and support of companies such as Scott Brownrigg, whose support over the last five years has gone well beyond the exhibition itself and into the heart of our Building Futures Programme. The annual Stephen Lawrence Architecture exhibition in partnership with Scott Brownrigg provides a wonderful setting to showcase the talents of our bursary students and demonstrate the strength of our strong partnership."

With a focus on how the built environment brings people together and the influences upon it, the exhibition aims to bring a sense of community as well as reflect where the SLCT is today and its common interest in discussing, improving and being inspired by the built environment.

For the past five years Scott Brownrigg has supported the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, which was set up in 1998 as a national educational charity committed to the advancement of social justice as well as promoting architecture and the creative industries to young people particularly from ethnic minorities. To date the Trust has awarded over 100 architectural and landscape bursaries.

Scott Brownrigg’s support for and involvement with the Trust includes: providing students with first-hand experience of life in its busy architectural studio via work placements and mentoring programmes; coaching on interview techniques and CV preparation and the annual exhibition. The practice is committed to supporting the next generation of architects, and through the Trust has provided guidance, encouragement and employment to many bursary students.

Scott Brownrigg CEO, Darren Comber said:
“We are enormously proud to have supported the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust over the last five years as part of its Building Futures Programme. Every year we continue to be impressed with the level of talent, drive and ambition that the scholars possess.  The  work and dedication of the Trust in helping to transform the lives of young people and in helping to achieve real social change is incredible and we look forward to continuing to support the Trust in the future and wish them the best of luck”.

The exhibition will be open weekdays to the public from the 2 to 20 March 2015 from 9am to 6pm at Scott Brownrigg, 77 Endell Street, London WC2H 9DZ.

A private view will be held on Thursday 5 March.
