Cambium, designed by Scott Brownrigg for Lendlease, has been shortlisted for Development of the Year (over £10m) at this year’s British Homes Awards.

Organised by the Sunday Times, the awards honour every aspect of housebuilding from one-off houses to major developments, interiors to landscaping, individual extensions to placemaking on a grand scale.

Judges have considered the external and internal design, development layout, landscaping, community and the scheme’s relationship with and contribution to its context.

Located in Southfields, Wandsworth, Cambium provides a sustainable, inclusive community, incorporating the best principles of quality residential design; delivering a place where people will aspire to live and thrive. Scott Brownrigg's masterplan and architectural design makes use of its ‘T-shaped’ site. With a total of 110 residential units including a six storey apartment block of 55 one, two and three-bedroom units with car parking at basement level and a further 55 three, four and five-bedroom houses which are a mix of typologies – townhouses, mews houses, courtyard style houses and semi-detached houses. The development has been carefully designed around a 200-year-old oak tree, believed to have been planted by the celebrated landscape architect Capability Brown. This together with an urban meadow form the heart of the development.

Now in their 13th year, we are looking forward to joining the other finalists at the awards ceremony on Thursday 19 September.
