North Hertfordshire College

The practice has built up a strong relationship with North Hertfordshire College over the last 5 years. Having reviewed the College’s Estate Strategy, Scott Brownrigg has created an architectural vision that informs the College’s development plans for the short, medium and long term. Projects include the redevelopment of the Hitchin Campus to incorporate a new entrance and internal “hub” space, uniting the existing teaching accommodation blocks to create a single coherent campus. These existing buildings are also being refurbished as part of the redevelopment alongside the hair and beauty salon that was completed in 2011. A new 1,800 sq m Da Vinci Studio School on the Stevenage Campus will provide 14-19 year old students with a pioneering new approach, combining enterprise learning and real work and offer an alternative to traditional classroom based learning. Providing Science and Engineering courses, the building is physically linked to the existing Stevenage facility, enabling the school to benefit from the existing higher education facilities on offer. A Da Vinci Studio School for Creative Enterprise is also being provided at the College’s Letchworth site, this, together with a new Centre for the Arts will provide the College with a new Creative Arts Campus forming a new community focus for Letchworth Garden City.
