NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Laboratories Complete

03.01.14

Scott Brownrigg has completed The Southern Hub NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Laboratories in Guildford.

It is one of five English Hubs that are part of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP).

This is a national screening programme that invites all men and women aged 60-69 years who are registered with a GP to complete a home testing kit every two years, the results of which are analysed in the new facility.

The Programme is now being extended to individuals aged 70-74 and has reached 50% of the public in this age group.

The Southern Hub is hosted by the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RSCH) and operates as part of the Surrey Pathology Services that encompass pathology services at RSCH and Frimley Park Hospital.

The 8,000 sq ft hub facility provides a full pathology laboratory facility, with associated offices, a dedicated helpline and staff support facilities.

The Laboratories are a bespoke facility designed to ensure the optimum working and relaxing environment for staff to ensure they can work with maximum accuracy.

Scott Brownrigg provided the interior fit-out design, space planning and laboratory design for the scheme.

“My particular thanks to the team who contributed professionally to the design and construction of our new home, they proved an impressively able group of people.”
